CoMotion Labs Climate Tech Incubator at the Seattle Climate Innovation Hub is an eight-month cohort-based program supporting startups tackling the climate crisis and promoting green technology growth. Seattle Donut Economics Coalition and Sustainable Seattle are co-hosting the April Green Drinks event. Come chat with others working, volunteering, or interested in the environmental field and learn more about donut economics. Free, with food and drinks available for purchase; 21+ only.

βSoapbox Seattle is a joyful third place for climate action, and we host community dinners every Tuesday evening rooted in art, music, plant-based food, connection, and meaningful advocacy.
βOur April topic is How to influence change. Our third week every month is our ACT module: a guided advocacy night that's beginner friendly. The courageous climate conversations workshop will be facilitated by Soapbox founder Nivi Achanta where you'll learn about values-based frameworks, preloaded responses, and more!

π Seattle Aurora Bridge Bioswale Tour & Happy Hour w/ Women and Climate Seattle

βJoin Women and Climate Seattle to learn about the Aurora Bridge bioswales, a beautiful nature-based solution that collects and filters polluted stormwater runoff, helping keep Lake Union clean. Schilling Cider, one of Seattle's most sustainably-mind businesses, will be opening their doors exclusively for Women and Climate.
βLeading our tour will be Rachael Meyer, Principal Landscape Architect and Director of Sustainability at Weber Thompson. Ms. Meyer led the Aurora Bridge Bioswale and Northlake Commons Bioswale projects, and last month received the Individual Leadership Award from the Puget Sound Business Journal Environmental and Sustainability Awards.

π UW Seminar: Harnessing Law and Policy to Reduce Food Waste

The Center for Environmental Politics organizes a monthly colloquium series on environmental politics, policy, and governance.
Emily M. Broad Leib is a Clinical Professor of Law, Director of the Harvard Law School Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation, and Founding Director of the Harvard Law School Food Law and Policy Clinic, the nationβs first law school clinic devoted to providing legal and policy solutions to the health, economic, and environmental challenges facing our food system. Working directly with clients and communities, Broad Leib champions community-led food system change, reduction in food waste, food access and food is medicine interventions, and equity and sustainability in food production.
π₯ Pile Burning & Biochar Workshop
When: Saturday, April 19, 10:00am-4:00pm
Where: Leavenworth, WA
π€ Want to watch live-action carbon capture? π₯ Want to play with fire? Do BOTH on Saturday, April 19th!
North of Leavenworth, from 10am to 4pm, weβll be demonstrating the process of turning woody debris into biochar using a flame cap kiln. Weβll also be showing efficient burn pile construction techniques and safe burning practices to minimize smoke impacts and reduce the risk of escapes - a big concern in eastern Washingtonβs dry region. Bring a sack lunch, and wear clothing made from natural fibers!
