As carbon removal scales, the Pacific Northwest region is poised to become a major hub of activity due to its vibrant climate tech ecosystem and natural attributes. The Carbon Business Council, RMI, Partnerships for Tribal Carbon Solutions, Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal, Indigenous Greenhouse Gas Removal Commission, Clean and Prosperous Institute, and Carbon Development Council invite you to participate in a Seattle Symposium on April 18th to discuss regional deployment opportunities in the Pacific Northwest.

Join us for a carbon removal community reception in Seattle! The reception will take place after the Regional and Responsible Deployment of CDR symposium, though you do not need to have attended the symposium to attend the reception. This networking event will be held at Bickersons Brewhouse featuring drinks and canapés. We hope to see you there!

Where: New Freeway Hall, Seattle
Wildfires, hurricanes, monsoons, drought -- unpredictable and devastating weather has uprooted the lives of millions across the globe. This is the picture of a planet in turmoil. What can be done? Come to this gathering to be part of an open discussion. We will kick off the evening with a review of the recent United Nations report "The unjust climate: measuring the impacts of climate change on rural poor, women and youth." Discuss how activists have been and continue to battle this crisis. Bring your ideas!

🐸 Leap for Green Earth Day Fair

Where: Mercer Island Community & Event Center, Mercer Island
Every year in April, the City of Mercer Island holds the Leap for Green Earth Day Fair at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center (MICEC). This free event began in 2008 to celebrate Earth Day by promoting environmental practices and activities for kids and adults, and to raise general awareness of local sustainability resources. We look forward to bringing back this event on April 20, 2024, to include a Camp Fair, entertainment, and food vendors!

Where: 21 Acres Center for Local Food & Sustainable Living, Woodinville
Spend your Earth Day with us at 21 Acres! Each year, Earth Day volunteers at 21 Acres help build healthy soil, support local food systems, and take vital action for the climate. Join your neighbors in Washington and around the world in giving back to the earth while connecting with people who share your passion. Work alongside our knowledgeable staff on a variety of seasonal restoration and farm projects and their role in an agroecological system. Stick around after the volunteer event for a building or farm tour and shop at our local foods Farm Market. No prior farm experience required. All tools provided.

🎉 EarthFest Bellevue 2024

Where: Bellevue Botanical Garden
The City of Bellevue will host its first EarthFest. Drop-in 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for sustainable fun for all ages. Educational nature-based programs, creative arts activities and environmental resource booths. This event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is not required. All who live, work, play and recreate in Bellevue are welcome!

♻️ Waste Warriors Volunteer Training

Where: Willis Tucker Activity Center, Snohomish
Do you ever find yourself standing at the recycling bin wondering what can and can’t be recycled, and WHY? Curious about climate change and how your individual actions can make a difference? Wondering how you can get more engaged in your local community? Get answers to these questions and more by becoming a WSU Waste Warrior.
By enrolling, you receive university-level training grounded in climate change science relevant both within Snohomish County and globally. The training is designed to help you become an informed community educator, preparing you for your volunteer commitment of 20 hours. A combination of engaging classroom presentations, workshops, and discussions paired with behind-the-scenes field trips make this an excellent educational and community engagement opportunity.
⚙️ Ecological Sustainability, Science, and Cultural Change

Where: Halycon Brewing Company, Seattle
Join faculty from the University of Washington’s Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) for an enlightening presentation series about research at the intersection of technology, design, and human experience. Hosted at Halcyon Brewing Company in Greenwood, Seattle, these informal conversations are intended to be accessible and engaging for everyone, regardless of background. Join us and learn how we collaborate to improve technology and systems for a more just future. Conversations will be from 7-8 p.m. with mingling from 6-7 p.m.
How can human-centered design support systemic change and address future challenges in the face of climate change? In this Earth Day conversation, we’ll explore how HCDE researchers are addressing pressing environmental issues. HCDE Professor Katya Cherukumilli will share how she integrates methods from environmental engineering, human-centered design, and public health to study safe water access for millions of people worldwide, and Professor David Ribes and Senior Research Scientist Shana Hirsch will discuss changing conceptions of nature and the earth, and how these impact ecological research.

We are expanding! We started as an 8-person dinner and now have over 4,000 members in our community. We’ve had people across the world reach out to us to start their own chapters - so we’re launching a new Climate Tech Cities organization this year!
