We have a fantastic lineup of events to choose from this week whether you want to join an event in person or online. Tour "the greenest office building in the world "at the 🏢 Bullitt Center Tour this afternoon in Capitol Hill, and on Wednesday join the CleanTech Alliance Lunch Series in downtown Seattle to learn about 🧑💻 Creating Successful CleanTech Internship Programs.
Thursday is jam packed with the all-day🧑🏫 Climate Justice League, Assemble (NW WA Cohort) event in Wallingford, the 🍎 Climate Change: The Impact of Washington Farms & Forests seminar hosted by Washington state climatologist Nick Bond in Mercer Island in the morning, this week’s Bevan Series event 🌊 The Moving Target of Ocean Recoveries in the Anthropocene in U District in the afternoon, and the virtual🥕 Lecture with the Beacon Food Forest in the evening. Join for the virtual⚛️ Nuclear Waste Scholar Series: On Telling Impossible Stories during Friday lunch to round out the week.

The Seattle chapter of Women and Climate hosted a wonderful career panel event last week where attendees heard from panelists with backgrounds in education, the private sector, the public sector, and non-profits. 🏢 Bullitt Center Tours
When: Tues, Feb 13th from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Where: Bullitt Center, 1501 East Madison St, Seattle, WA
The Bullitt Center, described by Architectural Digest as "the greenest office building in the world," offers public tours 2 days a week, most weeks. Tours will begin in the second floor lobby, and include the building's mechanical and electrical rooms, the grey water and rain water treatment systems, vacuum toilets and the "irresistible" stairway. Tours are facilitated by the University of Washington Center for Integrated Design.
🧑💻 Creating Successful CleanTech Internship Programs
When: Wed, Feb 14th from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM

The CleanTech Alliance Lunch Series presents notable clean tech executive speakers for a monthly conversation followed by networking with cleantech industry leaders from across the region.
Today’s interns are tomorrow’s leaders. What strategies are our members using to design successful training programs for young professionals? How are they tackling key challenges, such as bridging generational divides and navigating the shifting demands of remote/hybrid work? We invite you to join this dynamic lunch conversation at the Perkins Coie office downtown Seattle with ample time to network. Our panelists will also explore topics, such as how they are attracting diverse talent, evolving their educational programming to address concerns like mental health, and changing how they present feedback.
🧑🏫 Climate Justice League, Assemble (NW WA Cohort)

Come continue your learning with EarthGen in this cohort-based learning opportunity designed for teachers across Washington State who have previously participated in the Climate Justice League (NW Cohort) and is open to new participants. This professional learning community will gather in person with optional opportunities to meet in communities of practice virtually through the remainder of the school year. Participating teachers will engage with resources, experts, and each other to deepen their understandings of how interconnected climate impacts, environmental harms, and social injustices affect the wellbeing of their community and the broader region. They will grow their commitment to centering the experiences, perspectives, knowledges, leadership, and thriving of global majority communities, including those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of the Global Majority.
🍎 Climate Change: The Impact of Washington Farms & Forests

Join us for an engaging exploration as we delve into how recent past variations and future predictions of the climate in our region are influencing various sectors. This educational seminar, hosted by Washington State Climatologist Nick Bond, will focus on the landscape, and in particular, agriculture and terrestrial ecosystems of Washington state.
🌊 The Moving Target of Ocean Recoveries in the Anthropocene
When: Thurs, Feb 15th from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

The Bevan Series is a popular annual event held one quarter each year, usually in the format of 10 weekly seminars. The series features internationally recognized experts seeking to examine current issues affecting fisheries and marine conservation, representing as many viewpoints as possible, focusing on solutions to pressing problems. All lectures are free and open to the public. This year’s theme is “What does success look like, and how do we get there?”
Join this Thursday to hear from Adrian Stier from University of California Santa Barbara on the moving target of ocean recoveries in the Anthropocene.
🥕 Lecture with the Beacon Food Forest

Founded in 2009, the Beacon Food Forest operates a 3.5 acre food ecosystem on land owned by the Department of Public Utilities in Seattle’s Beacon Hill Neighborhood. Join us for a conversation with Khalil Griffith – Site and Programs Director – to learn more about the history of Beacon Food Forest, their current work, and the organization’s vision for expansion in the future. We will also discuss strategies for effectively co-managing land and programming across multiple groups and agencies. Beacon Food Forest is a fantastic example of utilizing urban green space for community-driven food sovereignty and climate justice work, and we hope you will join us for this conversation!
⚛️ Nuclear Waste Scholar Series: On Telling Impossible Stories

Shannon Cram joins Hanford Challenge for the Nuclear Waste Scholar Series. In this talk, Shannon will discuss the complex and contingent practices of nuclear storytelling. Drawing from her recent book, Unmaking the Bomb: Environmental Cleanup and the Politics of Impossibility, she will consider how narratives of atomic risk, reason, pollution, and protection have come to be, and ask how they could be otherwise. The Nuclear Waste Scholar Series is funded through a Public Participation Grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology.
