🌊 Teaching Climate Change and Ocean Acidification
When: Tue, Jun 20th at 8:30 AM to Wed, Jun 21st at 4:00 PM
Where: Padilla Bay NERR
A Professional Development workshop for grade 4-8 Teachers. Participants in this workshop will: • Gain knowledge of climate change and ocean acidification in the Pacific Northwest. • Explore sources of local environmental data and work towards incorporating data into inquiry-based science learning experiences. • Receive materials and activities in the Ocean Sciences Sequence (OSS) curriculum on Climate Change developed by UC Berkeley Lawrence Hall of Science.
💧 Green-Duwamish Watershed Workshop
When: Wed, Jun 21st from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Where: Tukwila Community Center
As our region is growing and changing, more pressure is being placed on our rivers’ tributaries, which are critical to river health but also to the ecosystems which they support. This workshop’s purpose is to provide new insights and perspectives on tributary management, connections with communities which foster stewardship and in turn support the environmental health of the watershed.

👗 Meet the Maker: Dan McLean

The Remake Seattle Community is joining forces with The Cura Co. again this summer to talk about the impacts of climate change, focusing on the things we love to wear and the people who make them. We will be reading Climate Optimism by Zahra Biabani and, along the way, holding space for intimate conversations with local makers. First up, we will feature Dan McLean. Dan is a sustainable fashion designer whose work showcases the unlimited possibilities of upcycling.
☕️ Climate Tech Coffee Crawl
When: Sat, Jun 24th from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Where: Various, Capitol Hill & Volunteer Park, Seattle, WA
It's as simple and fun as it sounds. We drink coffee and roam the neighborhood together to talk about our favorite climate tech projects and topics. There will also be jokes and games 🎯
🚴♀️ Lid I-5 Biking Tour
When: Sat, Jun 24th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Where: Seneca Plaza at Freeway Park
This grassroots urban design effort is gaining momentum in the mission to build a more connected, sustainable, and equitable city. Join the volunteer-led Lid I-5 Steering Committee on a bike tour of the Downtown lid study area and existing lids over Interstate 90. You'll learn about the latest milestones with public policy and funding that are making the project happen.
🌳 Forest Preservation - Why It Is Important to View Trees as Assets
When: Sat, Jun 24th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Where: Harvey Manning Park
Join the IATC and the City of Issaquah on a guided hike through Cougar Mountain to see firsthand how climate change directly impacts the Issaquah Alps and what our community leaders have done to preserve this vital region.
🥾 Royal Robbins Summer Conservation Kick Off
When: Sat, Jun 24th from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM
Where: Royal Robbins Seattle
This will be an amazing opportunity for outdoor lovers to hear from and learn more about local organizations that advocate for conservation, upkeep, and stewardship of natural resources and public lands. A store-wide sale during the event will include 25% off all merchandise, all customers will receive a special gift with purchase, and there will be a handful of additional raffle items. We are proud to be hosting this event in partnership with American Whitewater, Washington Trails Association (WTA), and Washington's National Park Fund (WNPF).
🐳 The Whale Child Exhibition
When: Sun, Jun 25th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (showing through July 9th)
Where: National Nordic Museum
This family-friendly exhibition presents lessons in environmental stewardship through captivating images and text from the story The Whale Child, written and illustrated by Lummi, S'Klallam, Norwegian and Swedish authors Chenoa and Keith Egawa. The Whale Child sends young readers on an adventure with Shiny, a whale child turned into a boy by the ocean’s water spirit. Along with Alex, a young Coast Salish girl, the two travel the earth, confronting the realities of a planet threatened by an uncertain future.
🐝 21 Acres Specialty Farm Tour: Pollinators
When: Sat, Jun 24th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: 21 Acres Center for Local Food and Sustainable Living
Led by 21 Acres Restoration Ecologist Jess Chandler, this special Farm Tour offers an exciting opportunity to learn about the relationships between pollinators, farming, and natural environmental systems. Experience firsthand the crucial role that pollinators play in our ecosystem and gain insights into the plight of bees in a world facing climate change, while exploring ways to protect them for generations to come.

Where: Seattle Restored Market
From June 1st to September 1st, Remake - a global advocacy organization working at the intersection of labor rights and climate justice - challenges people all over the world to press pause on the purchase of new clothing and, instead, reflect on their relationship with fashion. You are invited to join the Remake Seattle Community in collaboration with Seattle Restored Market for a clothing swap that aims to transform the way you engage with the clothes in your closet for the next 90 days...and beyond!

We are expanding! We started as an 8-person dinner and now have over 4,000 members in our community.
