Seattle Climate Tech: Mar 12 - Mar 18
Speed networking with WAC, cleantech, walkable cities, green building and more events this week! Also, 3 great opportunities for early stage companies & projects.
Hi friends,
It’s windy and rainy 🌧️, cherry blossoms are blooming 🌸, the sun is setting later 🌇…. it’s officially Seattle Spring! We have a wonderful lineup of events over the next few weeks (check them out below), and we’re also excited to highlight these 3 fantastic opportunities for early stage climate companies and projects in the PNW:
⚡Cascadia CleanTech Accelerator — Applications are now open for the 2024 Cohort. This is an 18-week program that is mostly virtual and includes mentorship and development opportunities for early stage hardware and software cleantech startups doing business in the Northwest. This accelerator is a joint program of the Cleantech Alliance and VertueLab. Applications are due April 5th.
🌲 Paul G. Allen Family Foundation — RFP: Supporting Natural Climate Solutions in the Pacific Northwest. The foundation is investing up to $5 million in place-based Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) projects in the PNW. Priority projects include those that are community-driven and done in partnership through collaborations between Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs), non-profit orgs, academic groups, and independent research labs or professional societies. Proposals are due April 12th, and here’s a webinar recording that covers the program details.
🔋 Cleantech Open — Applications for 2024 Accelerator are now open. Cleantech Open is the world’s largest cleantech accelerator and selects 100-150 companies across North America to join its program each year. Applications are due April 14th, and they are hosting an in-person kick off in Seattle this Thursday (details below).
As always, scroll down for the full list of upcoming events.
Cheers,
Maya, Alec, and the Climate Tech Cities Team
👩🤝🧑Community Shoutout: Soapbox Seattle
Soapbox Seattle, founded by community builder Nivi Achanta, is a cozy pop-up community center where you meet your neighbors, share a meal, and learn about environmental and social justice efforts from local experts. Last Tuesday marked their first pop up event where attendees played classic games with a sustainability twist (read: giant climate jenga), engaged in deep conversations, shared farm-to-table food, and took action together by brainstorming neighborhood grants and sending letters to city council. Soapbox is hosting a pop up every Tuesday in March and April, read on below for their upcoming events!
