Seattle Climate Tech: Mar 3 - Mar 9
Angel investing, climate trivia, composting, and more this week!
Hi friends,
All the sunshine this past weekend was a wonderful reminder that we’re just 17 days away from the spring equinox! We have yet another great week of climate events ahead, here is a sampler of what’s happening:
Learn about angel investing in climate tech startups at the 💰 Climate Angels & LPs: Crash Course w/ Stepchange Ventures this Tuesday
Angel investing not your thing? Instead head over to Elliot Bay Book Company to learn about low-carbon ecodistricts from Michael Eliason as he discusses his new book 📖 Building for People
On Thursday make your way to 9Zero to test your eco-knowledge with a fun, interactive night of 🏆 Climate Trivia
Start your Saturday by helping compost restaurant food scraps into nutritious compost with 🌱 Restaurant 2 Garden at the Danny Woo Community Garden
🎙️ Before you read on, we’d like to highlight a fun event coming up on March 19th. David Roberts, the journalist and founder of Volts, will be joining Ben Eidelson for a special live recording of the Climate Papa podcast. Space is limited, so make sure to RSVP if you’d like to join.
As always, scroll down for the full list of upcoming events.
Cheers,

We need to connect around the new economy to figure out where we want to go from here together, whether that's fossil fuel divestment, bioregional financing, buying nothing through the gift economy, or more!
Every single Tuesday evening from 6-9 PM, our vibrarians at Soapbox Project help you make new friends, invite awesome educators from frontline communities, and facilitate action so YOU can be part of the solution.

In the book he makes the case for low-carbon ecodistricts and presents tools for developing these residential and mixed-use quarters or neighborhoods. Drawing from his experience working in Europe and North America, he shows the potential for new climate-adaptive ecodistricts that directly and equitably address our housing shortages while simultaneously planning for climate change.

⚡️DER + Data Science Seminar Series
When: Thu, Mar 6, 6:00pm-7:30pm
Where: 9Zero Climate Innovation Hub, 1215 4th Ave 15th Floor, Seattle, WA 98101
Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are small-scale generators (like solar panels), energy storage devices and controllable loads located on the distribution side of the electrical grid. The technologies are mature and cost-effective. But they are not yet integrated in a way that facilitates their full potential grid value.
While the complexity of DER integration is daunting, there is a robust data science toolset that helps us grapple with it. This event includes two 40-minute, seminar-style presentations exploring the unique behavior of these resources. Both presentations bring together DER technology expertise with open source data science tools.
🌱 Volunteer to Compost with Restaurant 2 Garden
When: Sat, Mar 8, 10:30am-1:00pm
Where: Danny Woo Community Garden, 620 South Main Street, Seattle, WA 98104
Help and get to know our hyperlocal composting operation, Restaurant 2 Garden. We collect food scraps from restaurants in our neighborhood and process it into nutritious compost for gardeners at the Danny Woo Community Garden. With a few processing methods to create our compost, there will always be something to do, and we love sharing about how we do it!
