Professional climber Graham Zimmerman explores the balance between his ambitions as an alpinist and his social responsibilities as a husband, climate advocate, and community leader. He reflects on the impact of climate change on the mountains and the need to find a new approach to climbing. Zimmerman's journey is a coming-of-age story of adventure and personal reckoning.

Join the NW Energy Efficiency Council for a fun happy hour event to celebrate the transformative shifts that have shaped our industry over the last 5 years, and explore the opportunities these changes present, and what we as an industry should do now to ensure we capture them. The event is entirely free and will include an array of exciting things including the unveiling of our organization’s new name, an interactive Q&A NEEC Board game (with prizes!), and plenty of time to network with one another over snacks, pizza, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. 🛶 Tres Comunidades, Un Rio Opening Reception

Where: Gould Hall, University of Washington
Tres Comunidades, Un Río reveals stories of relocation, biodiversity, human and environmental health, connections to nature, and strength of community in two informal floodplain communities and a highlands relocation community in Iquitos, Peru. This project explored an integrated arts and sciences approach to advocate for informed socio-ecological planning for and with traditionally designed communities, some of whom have existed for millennia, yet often are excluded from urban planning. Join us in celebrating the stories learned during this multi-year research project - a dynamic collaboration between Peruvian and U.S. ecologists, photographers, landscape architects, social scientists, anthropologists, public health researchers and community members.

🐟 Critical Habitats for Climate Change - Salmon Habitat

Join the IATC and the City of Issaquah on a guided hike along Pickering Reach to explore how riparian areas and wetlands are critical habitats for plant and wildlife diversity in the face of a rapidly changing climate. This hike will focus on the City of Issaquah’s efforts to conserve and restore riparian habitat to support threatened salmon populations and a wide array of plant species and other wildlife that rely on these vital habitats along our rivers and lakeshores.

Join Seattle Rep and Bandit Theatre as Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), and improv comedy unite for Mad Science! This show invites special guests--in this case, experts in whales and climate science--to share their real cutting-edge research and stories from the academic front line for Bandit’s team of improv comedians to warp, twist, and turn on its head. No laboratory could have synthesized an improv show like this.
🌱 Volunteer at 21 Acres: Farm Stewardship

Where: 21 Acres Center for Local Food and Sustainable Living, 13701 NE 171st Street, Woodinville, WA
Ready to get involved in your local food system? Work alongside knowledgeable 21 Acres staff on a variety of seasonal restoration and farm projects that build soil health and climate resilience. Your help supports local food systems by increasing farm productivity; building habitat for animals, birds, and insects; decreasing stormwater runoff; and storing carbon. Activities include seeding, transplanting, weeding, mulching, bed building, and more! No prior farm experience required. All tools provided.
