We hope you had a great time last week at the first ever PNW Climate Week! There’s no shortage of events this month either, October is picking up full speed with 22 great events so far.
For this coming week, join the 🚶♀️ Spring District Sustainability Walking Tour of one of the first developments in Washington State to secure Neighborhood LEED certification on Wednesday in Bellevue, go for a guided hike along Pickering Reach to learn about 🌊 Critical Habitats for Climate Change – Salmon Habitat in Issaquah on Saturday, and head to the 🪺 Heron's Nest Auction to support the health of the Duwamish River Valley on Saturday in Seattle.

⚡Community Shoutouts: Lightning Talks @ PNW Climate Week!
All of PNW Climate Week was an absolute blast, and certainly no exception was the Lightning Talks event hosted by Jacob Caggiano (The Climate Tech Handbook) and Nancy Wang (Work on Climate). We heard from amazing speakers on a variety of topics ranging from climate activism to sustainable fleet operations to climate policy and risk to how micro-organisms can play a role in climate solutions, and more. An educational and inspiring evening all around!

🚶♀️ Spring District Sustainability Walking Tour

Wright Runstad & Company and GGLO join the Bellevue 2030 District for a walking tour of Bellevue's new Spring District. One of the first developments in Washington State to secure Neighborhood LEED certification, the Spring District is setting the bar for sustainability at neighborhood scale. Learn more about the overall vision and placemaking, as we share the sustainability elements of this incredible development with a tour around the built and future planned areas of the Spring District. Join us at the Bellevue Brewing Company Brewpub for the tour and enjoy a locally brewed pint afterward while continuing the conversation.
🌊 Critical Habitats for Climate Change – Salmon Habitat
When: Sat, Oct 7th from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Where: 1730 10th Ave. N.W. Issaquah, WA 98027
Join the IATC and the City of Issaquah on a guided hike along Pickering Reach to explore how riparian areas and wetlands are critical habitats for plant and wildlife diversity in the face of a rapidly changing climate. This hike will focus on the City of Issaquah’s efforts to conserve and restore riparian habitat to support threatened salmon populations and a wide array of plant species and other wildlife that rely on these vital habitats along our rivers and lakeshores.
🪺 Heron's Nest Auction
When: Sat, Oct 7th from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: The Heron's Nest, 4818 Puget Way SW Seattle, WA 98106
Join us in celebration of seasons, growth and support of health and safety of The Duwamish River Valley. Support ongoing programs, restoration, and initiation of new Aquaponics food growth system and community education kitchen build for 2024. Dinner, music, performances, silent auction and more! All ages, outdoors, ADA accessible.
